Schedule amendements for C test rallies and SJ clinics

Just a few adjustments…

For the C prep group:The XC cession for C test prep which was scheduled for the 29th of October in Banna is brought forward to the 22nd of October and the C prep rally on the 22nd is now scheduled for the 29th. So basically this is a swap: instead of Eagle Lodge rally on 22nd it’s XC in Banna and on the 29th, instead of the XC it’s Eagle Lodge for C prep rally indoors. If the weather is appalling we will come up with an alternative plan but you will do XC training on the 22nd!

For the Show Jumping Clinics: the venue is now set and we are going to Woodlands Equestrian Centre in Faha, Killarney. There is one date change, the Clinic scheduled for the 12th of November is now postponed to the 26th of November. The 4 dates are therefore as follow:

Clinic 1 on Saturday 15th October

Clinic 2 on Saturday 22nd of October

Clinic 3 on Saturday 19th of November

Clinic 4 on Saturday 26th of November.

Remember, each clinic is €25 or all 4 for €80, booked and prepaid on first come first served basis. Non refundable.

Meeting of parents on Wednesday October 19th

In River Island Hotel in Castleisland at 8.30pm.

It is absolutely crucial that all members parents attend this meeting. It is our one chance to all be in the same room and discuss and plan the future of our branch, give feedback and implement changes in a positive way. Have your say! Let us know what new activities your child wants to try or if they would like to train for a specific aim, like Minimus, tetrathlon, or Mounted games? There are lots of things we haven’t tried!

So come for a chat and a cuppa and help us shape our branch of the Pony Club.

B test in 2017

After the success of our senior group passing their C+ test with flying colours this summer, the next logical step is the B test!

http://irishponyclub.ie/pony-club-tests/b-test/ will give you more information on what is expected at this level.

If you are considering a career in the horse world, it is well worth continuing with the Pony Club exams as they bridge in with BHS exams. It is also probably a more affordable way to obtain these qualifications.

Make sure to let us know of your interest before the end of the year so that training can be coordinated with our region and neighbouring clubs.

Logistics

I need feedback from everyone re your intentions… Please text or email me back with your choices

Riders

  • We will provide lunch for everyone but you will need to bring snacks and drinks. Let us know of any dietary requirements in advance (veggie, coeliac, allergies…) and we will try to accommodate every one.
  • All rides start at 10am. If your horse is stabled on site you need to feed, groom and muck out beforehand. Camp will finish every evening at 5pm. Note to parents before and after those times your children are your responsibility and must be supervised by you or a nominated adult in your stead.

Ponies/Horses

If you intend to box your pony over every day and leave every evening. But he/ she will have to stay in his horse box during lunch break (only if a vehicle still attached) or will have to be tied up in an enclosed arena.

You can book a stable for the 3 days and 2 or 3 nights for €5 per day. We only have very few available. We will give priority to people living further away and then on a first come first serve basis. You must bring your own bedding ( min 2 bales of shavings) and mucking out equipment, hard feed and buckets. Bernie can provide Haylage if needed but does not have hay.

Most of you have booked already, I would like you to confirm your situation has not changed.

Parents duties

Camp week is a time for all hands to the decks! We need help to set up this week and next week to supervise during lunch breaks, prepare and serve food, organise entertainment..etc and to dismantle Wednesday evening. The venue must be returned in the condition we find it!

Each family must contribute to the effort, so please volunteer for at least one of the following:

  • Move fences from Arthurs over to Banna and back after camp.
  • Build and if you can, lend gazebos for us to shelter during break times and stable management. Warning: must be robust tents as there is always a breeze there!
  • Build SJ and XC course ( Sunday)
  • Give a second coat of ronseal to XC fences ( Sunday)
  • Supervise during camp for at least 3 hour shift ( morning 9am to 12, lunch 11 to 2, afternoon 2 to 5pm) we will work a rota.
  • Help Helen, our chef extraordinaire, to prepare lunch and serve it, prepare mid morning and mid afternoon snacks and drinks and serve them.
  • Help with planning games and entertainment and maybe a bbq on one evening evening?

Contact Maria for supervising rota

Contact Gaelle or Bernie for setting up and taking down.
